Ed. B.A. Dublin, B.A.I. Dublin; Fellow of the Royal Colonial Institute. Apprentice London and North Western Railway (1895 ), afterwards on the permanent staff of that railway. Appointed Assistant Engineer Ceylon Government Railway Extensions (1900 ), appointed Chief Construction Engineer Ceylon Government Railways (1906 ). Chief Works: Chester and Holyhead widening (L. and N.W.R. ); Northern Railway, Ceylon; Kelani Valley Ratnapma and Pehnedulla Railway, Ceylon; Duplication of 68 miles of main Broadgauge lines, Ceylon (in progress); Negombo and Chilaw Railway, Ceylon; Bandaiawila and Badulla Extension, Ceylon; Putlalam Extension, Ceylon; rebuilding and remodelling all railway stations, goods yards, stores, Colombo; constructing new and surveying all new lines, Railway to Harbour, Ceylon, etc. Member of the Sports Club, St. James' Square, London, and Colombo Club, Hill Club, Nuwara.
