Milletts Stores

From Graces Guide
(Redirected from Millett Stores)

Pre-WWI: Jessie, Eva and Florence Millett and their brother Denis ran a small haberdashery business in Leicester.

Post-WWI Mr. Michael Millett, husband of Florence, joined J. E. Millett and Co as a partner in the haberdashery business.

1920 Michael and Denis Millett switched from haberdashery to government surplus goods.

More shops followed, opening in Sheffield, in Dundee and in other towns across the North and Midlands.

By 1928, the group had premises in 40 centres.

1928 Milletts Stores (1928) was incorporated as a Public company to acquire the businesses of J. E. Millett and Co and Milletts Stores Ltd, government contractors and operators of retail multiple shops. The company would have 27 branches in the principal towns in England and Scotland. [1]
