Caulton, of Denby Colliery, undertook to carry an iron casting and frame, about two cwts, from Morley Park Iron Works to Denby Pottery, about two miles distant, which he accomplished with apparent ease, although he is only ten stone weight himself.— Derby Reporter.'[1]
Two blast furnaces dating from the 18th and 19th century have survived. They were built by Francis Hurt, one dating from 1780, being the first coke-iron furnace in Derbyshire. The other furnace bears the date 1818. See here for more information [2]
