Hidalgo Moya was an American-Spanish engineer who lived in England. After first building the Moya typewriter, he set up the company to launch the down-strike design.

1902 Company founded by John Gordon Chattaway and Hidalgo Moya, trading as the Moya Typewriter Co.

1908 Became the Imperial Typewriter Co
