1910 Company formed to acquire 9 steamers from the Nelson Line (London); H. and W. Nelson were the managing agents

1913 Royal Mail Steam Packet Co acquired the Nelson Line (Liverpool) and the Nelson Steam Navigation Co[1]. The shipping lines retained their separate identities but Philipps and Pirrie began to treat all the associated companies as an integrated Royal Mail Group which was structured through a network of cross-shareholdings.
