New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBPOL) is a leading producer of sustainable palm oil certified in accordance with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Principles & Criteria, producing over 2 million tonnes of fresh fruit bunch. As at 1 May 2010, they produced 16.2% of the worlds certified crude palm oil and 17% of the world’s certified palm kernel oil.

Plantation operations are in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, where they have a refinery and a bulking terminal.

Company headquarters are in West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea.

The company is listed on the Port Moresby Stock Exchange and on the London Stock Exchange.

Kulim (Malaysia) Bhd retains a controlling 50.68% shareholding, and the West New Britain Provincial Government is the company’s second largest shareholder, holding an 8.28% interest.

For the financial year ending 31 December 2009, they reported a turnover of USD 323.8 million, down from USD 352.2 million in 2008, due to lower prices for palm oil in the first half of 2009. Pre-tax profits were also lower at USD 85.3 million (2008: USD 106.3 million).
