1935 The hotel was sold by its proprietor W. Norman to the Associated Kinema Co and will be demolished and a 2,000 seat cinema built. 'One of the most famous hotels in the West of England in the days coaching, the New London was built in 1793-4 by that celebrated hotel-keeper, Mr. John Land. The site was formerly occupied the Oxford Inn, which was pulled down make wav for the New London.'[7]
