1906 Scunthorpe was chosen for a new works by John Lysaght Ltd because of its abundant ore reserves from which to produce steel bars for the company's mills steel sheet mills at Orb Works, Newport.

1912 The works began operations

1919 became part of the Guest, Keen and Nettlefold group.

1921 The Registrar of Friendly Societies cancelled the registry of MESSRS. JOHN LYSAGHT'S EMPLOYEES' FOOD PRODUCTION SOCIETY Ltd. at Normanby Park Steel Works, Scunthorpe, in the county of Lincoln.[1].
