1960 Robin Ellsworth established the company which started out coating gold discs for the music industry.

Subsequently moved the business to Totnes, Devon.

1981 Acquired by J. Harvey Engineering[1] whose name was then changed to Optical and Electrical Coatings Ltd, specialising in vacuum coating of metals.

1988 Name changed to OMITEC Electro-Optics (OEC) Ltd

1992 Name changed to OMITEC Thin Films Ltd

1992 The company was spun off from the parent

1997 Name changed to Avimo Thin Film Technologies Ltd
