Owen Williams, heir to the ‘Copper King’, Thomas Williams
Born 1764
Brother of John Williams
Was a partner in the Greenfield copper and brass manufacturing company during his father’s lifetime.
1792 Married Margaret Hughes
1794 Pascoe Grenfell went into partnership with Owen Williams to buy Cornish ores, primarily to supply the Williams' Middle and Upper Bank smelting works in Swansea.
1796 Became MP for Marlow
1802 Received shares in the reorganized Stanley smelting company shortly before his father's death
received in trust the copper mills at Temple and Wraysbury.
With Pascoe Grenfell he continued the firm’s London copper office in Upper Thames Street on the same footing as previously
1810 he withdrew from the immediate concerns of the Anglesey mines
1825 retired completely from the copper business.
1832 Died
