1905 'In a recent issue we announced that Messrs. P. J. Carroll and Co., tobacco manufacturers of Dundalk, were about starting in the cigarette-making branch of the tobacco industry. They have now done so; and appropriately enough they have placed on the market a cigarette which they call by the name of the "Anti-Combine" cigarette. They have also brought out "Anti-Combine" plug. This enterprise of Messrs. Carroll and Co. is most opportune, and deserves support from the Irish public.'[2]

1985 Charles Carroll, grandson of Mr. Patrick James Carroll, who was founder of P. J. Carroll and Co. Ltd died at the age of 89.[3]
