Built by James Lang at Dumbarton.

Leven's side lever engine, built by Robert Napier, was transferred to the Queen of Beauty in 1845. It was presented to the town of Dumbarton in 1877, and was eventually moved to its present position at the Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank, Dumbarton.

The engine's construction date is variously stated to be between 1821 and 1824.
