Established in 1857 by W. Palgrave Brown. Continued in 1882 by Charles N. Brown, J.P. (son). Incorporated as a Private Limited Company in 1903.
1914 Directors: Charles N. Brown, J.P. (Chairman), William S. Wharton, Cyril H. Walter. Premises: Have a river frontage of 1,200 ft. Business: Importers of Baltic and White Sea Deals, Boards and Floorings, Pitchpine and other Timber.
