Passerelle des Deux Rives, Strasbourg
The Passerelle des Deux Rives (footbridge of two banks) crosses the Rhine between Strasbourg and Kehl.
It is a much more complex structure than is strictly necessary for a pedestrian/cyclist bridge, but the complexity makes it a far more interesting bridge to study than its neighbours.
Cable-stayed pedestrian bridge with 185m main span. Two decks, one straight in plan and arched in elevation, the other curved in plan.
Constructed 2003-4. Architect: Marc Mimram.
