Horizontal compound mill engine for R. Brearley and Sons’ Queen Street Mills, Batley. Flywheel 18 ft diameter, 48.5" wide, driving by leather belt. Approx 500 HP. Designed by G. Sellers.[1]

1883 Company liquidation. 'In the Matter of Proceedings for Liquidation by Arrangement or Composition with Creditors, instituted by James Bywater and William Spurr, both of Birstall, in the county of York, Ironfounders, carrying on business in copartnership under the style of Pearson and Spurr....'[2]

1885 'THE VALUABLE STOCK-IN-TRADE and extensive PLANT, Re Hornby & Co., "Late Pearson & Spurr," engineers, Birstall, will be brought to the hammer at an early date, "if not previously disposed of by private contract." Further particulars on application to Mr. WM. FREDERICK FOX, Auctioneer, or of Mr. James Austin, iron merchant, the Trustee, Dewsbury.'[3]
