PERCY ANDREWS was connected with the National Gas and Oil Engine Company for no less than thirty-five years. He entered the drawing office of the firm in 1903 after completing a four years' apprenticeship at the Openshaw works of Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Company, Ltd.

In 1911, when only twenty-seven years old, he was appointed chief draughtsman in the horizontal gas engine department. Subsequently he was also made responsible for the design of small vertical gas and oil engines of all sizes. In 1932 he took charge of the design of all types and sizes of engines made by the firm, ranging from small 2 h.p. types to pressure-charged engines developing up to 1,500 h.p. Mr. Andrews also lectured in engineering subjects at the Evening Technical School from 1910 to 1922.

He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1925. His death occurred at Audenshaw, Manchester, on 11th January 1938.
