1928 The Petroleum Storage and Finance Corporation was launched which acquired Cleveland Petroleum Products Co of Manchester and Preston[1].

1929 Established Ellesmere Port Oil Wharves Ltd as a subsidiary to own the oil storage facilities at Ellesmere Port, the first phase of which had been completed[2]

1930 Subsidiary British Oil Storage Co was developing facilities in different parts of the country[3]

1931 Deal made with Pan-American Petroleum to supply motor spirit to the company

1938 Profits had more than doubled in the past year, due to the marketing of the alcohol-derived motor fuel[4]

c.1939 Name changed to Cleveland Petroleum Co[5]
