Career: Served with the Steam Road Transport Dept. as asst. to the D.A.A.G. of Steam Transport in the S.A. War of 1899-1902; General Manager in India and Burma John Fowler & Co. (Leeds), Ltd., 1909-14; served in Great War, 1914-18, with Tanks, rising to position of Asst. Chief Mech. Engr.; from 1919 to 1923 Supt. of The War Office Dept. of Tank Design and Experiment.
