1874 The Gas Tube Department of Eadie, Menzies and Eadie will, under the Firm of JAMES MENZIES & COMPANY, continue to be carried on by the Subscriber James Menzies, in the same portion of the Works as at present — such portion to be hereafter termed the Phoenix Tube Works; and also at No. 169 Upper Thames Street, London.

All debts due by the late concern of Eadie, Menzies, & Eadie will be paid, and all accounts due to it will be uplifted, by the Firm of James Eadie and Sons."[1]

1898 The business of James Menzies and Co., of Phoenix Tube Works, Rutherglen, was taken over by Andrew and James Stewart, the style of the firm being changed to A. and J. Stewart and Menzies, Limited.

By 1914 Phoenix Tube Works, Rutherglen, was part of Stewarts and Lloyds
