1898 The company was registered to construct certain tramways and light railways in the Potteries District of North Staffordshire, to take over the properties of the North Staffordshire Tramways Co, as well as other constructed lines, and to work all such tramways and light railways as one undertaking by the overhead system of electric traction.

1908 The various lines authorised are of a total length of about 35 miles, about 31 miles of which are running electrically. [1]
