Provincial Gaslight and Coke Co

1829 The Provincial Co was established by Deed of Settlement to hold the unincorporated part of the British Gaslight Co (effectively the operations outside London), to operate seven stations at Norwich, Hull, Trowbridge, the Potteries, Holywell, Ayr and Clonmel in Ireland. The headquarters of the company were in George Yard, Lombard St, London.

1857 The company was incorporated as a Joint Stock Co with Limited Liability at the instigation of George Bower

1877 Agreement for sale and purchase of gasworks from the Provincial Gas Light & Coke Co Ltd to Messrs Bullock Cross & Schofield, Sep 1877

1879 Declarations of Charles Todd and James G. Carhill, Secretary to the Provincial Gas Light & Coke Co., 1856 and 1861 respectively, re mortgages and loans upon sale of Barrow works to the Barrow upon Humber Gas Co Ltd. (Details of previous deeds etc given).

1922 The headquarters of the company were moved to No.2, The Abbey Garden, Westminster.

1924 the constitution was altered by the substitution of a Memorandum and Articles of Association for the original Deed of Settlement.
