1852 February 4th. Born the son of Robert Dyer Commans

1894 Awarded a Watt Medal and a Telford Premium for "Concentration and Sizing of Crushed Minerals."

1936 Will. 'Mr. Robert Edden Commans, of Macaulay House, Bath, a retired engineer, who helped to design the haulage gears and ropeways used in the early days of the Kimberley diamond mines and a founder member of the Royal Automobile Club...'[1]
