1886 Born in London the son of Ernest Edward Wickham, Registrar at Shoreditch County Court.
1910 of Montreal, when he gained his aviator's certificate No. 20 at Brooklands
1910 'A certificate as a qualified aviator was granted last evening by the Royal Aero Club to Mr. Richard Wickham, a young pupil of Mr. Grahame White. He passed his tests on the Brooklands track. In the course of the next week it is his intention to take a monoplane to the neighbourhood of Dover where he will remain until a suitable state of the wind enables him to attempt a flight to the other side of the Channel. This fight will be undertaken with a view of winning the Baron De Forest’s prize of £3,000 for the longest distance flown from this country to a spot on the Continent on an aeroplane of British construction engined by a British-made motor,'[1]
