R. and T. Farmer and Co

From Graces Guide

of Kennington, Surrey, maker of sulphuric acid

1778 Thomas Farmer established a vitriol factory at Kennington Common.

1839 In response to a shortage of elemental sulphur caused by the duty imposed on sulphur exported from Sicily, Farmer became the first sulphuric acid manufacturer to employ pyrites on a large scale as a source of sulphur dioxide.

The company survived well into the 20th century.
