1971 Following the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971, UKAEA was split into three, with the Radiochemical Centre being responsible for production of medical and industrial radioisotopes.

1980 The centre employed about 2000 people, mostly at Amersham and Cardiff, with a worldwide marketing organisation[1]

1982 Privatised as Amersham International
