Ragusa Asphalte Paving Co
1916 S. D. Clements and A. Franks set up business
At a later stage this private company took the name Ragusa Asphalte Paving Company.
1935 A public company of the same name was incorporated to acquire the business, the share capitals of its wholly owned subsidiaries Greatorex and Son Ltd, and Tarpaving and Tarmacadam Ltd, and a controlling interest in the Compagnie des Mines d'Asphalte de Montrottier et de Gardebois Seyssel. The business consisted of the production of asphalte rock and mastic asphalt and the laying of paving and floors, and the quarrying of limestone and manufacture of Macadam[1].
1955 Acquired John Hadfield and Sons of Sheffield, asphalters and asphalt and tar paving manufacturers[2]. New subsidiaries would be established; the name of Ragusa Asphalte Paving Co would become Ragusa Ltd[3]. A new company Ragusa Asphalte Paving Co was then incorporated to acquired Ragusa Ltd[4]
1957 Merger of the principal UK interests of Highways Construction, Neuchatel Asphalte and Ragusa as Amalgamated Asphalte Companies, a new private company. Neuchatel would retain some British subsidiaries outside the merger[5]
1975 Name changed to Tarmac Bitumen Products Ltd[6]
1976 Name of Tarmac Bitumen Products Ltd changed to Tarmac Building Products Ltd
