Ralph Lucas (1876-1955) of Valveless and North-Lucas

1876 Born in Greenwich, the son of Francis Robert Lucas (1849-1931), a Telegraph engineer, and his wife Katherine

1881 Living at Park Lodge, Chorlton next Woolwich: Francis R. Lucas (age 32 born Greenwich), Engineer Telegraph. With his wife Katherine M. Lucas (age 29 born Greenwich)b with their two sons Ralph Lucas (age 5 born Greenwich) and Keith Lucas (age 2 born Greenwich). Two servants.[1]

1903 Became a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers

Registered 15 UK and 3 US patents between 1899 and 1910 for a range of different engine parts.

1899 to 1908 Produced the Valveless car before moving production to David Brown and Sons

1903 Married to Mary Anderson Juler and they had 2 sons

1911 Living at Redcliff Farm, Wareham, Dorset: Ralph Lucas (age 35 born Greenwich), Consulting Engineer (Motor Cars). With his wife Mary Anderson Lucas (age 28 born Marylebone) and their two sons Anthony Ralph Lucas (age 6 born Blackheath) and Colin Anderson Lucas (age 4 born Blackheath). Two servants.[2]

1922 Ralph Lucas developed the North-Lucas Radial car with Oliver North at the Robin Hood Engineering Works in Putney Vale. This time only one was built by the Chelsea Motor Building Co. ? Built by the Robinhood Engineering Works according to Light Car and Cyclecar: 1922/12/15. Perhaps both companies were involved. The car had a streamlined aluminium bodied with a fabric roof. It was used by Ralph himself between 1922 and 1928, covering 65,000 miles in its lifetime.
