RAYMOND JARRY died on May 3, 1931 at the age of sixty-one.
Born in the Sarthe Department of France, he came from a wealthy peasant family. After a brilliant career at the Lycee Saint-Louis, he was admitted both to the Ecole Centrale and the Poole Normale Superieure, but chose to go to the latter, and from there took his degree of Doctor of Science.
In 1898, Lazare Weiner, founder of the Societe Treffleries et Laminoirs du Havre, asked for his assistance in Havre, and from this was dated his connection with that firm.
He returned to Paris in 1903, first as General Director at the Head Office and then as Deputy Director. In the latter capacity his admirable qualities could be utilized to the fullest advantage.
During the war, M. Jarry threw himself wholeheartedly into the making of munitions.
He was also Vice-President of the Chambre Syndicale des Metaux, and Deputy Director of numerous metallurgical societies and President of the Societe La Nouvelle Gallia. He was also a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur.
M. Jarry was elected a member of the Institute of Metals on September 19, 1919.
