1976 Acquired Platts Forgings, useful for making dies for the rest of the group[4]

1980 Closed subsidiary Platts Forgings of Willenhall[5]

1981 After a period of losses, acquired by Bahco of Sweden[6]

1981 Mabey and Johnson acquired the drop-forging business of Record Ridgway previously carried on by Platts Forgings[7]
