Redheugh Bridge Co

From Graces Guide

The Redheugh Bridge Company was formed to construct the bridge over the Tyne at Redheugh

1866 the company was incorporated, raising £ 40,000 capital

1870 The company needed more funds and agreed with shareholders to borrow another £13000. It was thought that the bridge would be finished and opened to the public in November 1870[1]

The Newcastle and Gateshead Gas Company and the Newcastle and Gateshead Water Company each appointed a director to the board, reflecting presumably the role of the bridge in piping gas and water across the river.
