"REUBEN YEADON, whose death in his sixty-first year occurred on 19th January 1951, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1938. He received his technical training at Leeds Technical Institute and served an apprenticeship with Greenwood and Batley, Ltd., Leeds, where he continued as junior draughtsman for another year. After gaining further practical experience in the drawing office of Hathorn Davey, Ltd., Leeds, waterworks engineers, he began, in 1915, a connection with Davy Brothers, Ltd., Park Ironworks, Sheffield. Commencing as senior draughtsman he served as section leader from 1921 to 1931 when he was promoted to be chief draughtsman of the rolling mill plant section. Since 1935 he had been assistant chief mechanical engineer to Colvilles, Ltd., Dalzell Steelworks, Motherwell, with responsibility for the layout, design, and construction of new plant for various branches."
