Revertex

Revertex Ltd, chemical manufacturer, of Harlow.

1952-63 Revertex Ltd constructed and operated production at Harlow from 1952 to 1963. The primary products were polyvinyl acetate resin dispersions and solid polyvinyl alcohol resin.

1963 Harlow Chemical Company was created with a 50:50 shareholding by Revertex Ltd and Hoechst UK Ltd. The Stallingborough manufacturing site was developed by Doverstrand Ltd, a joint venture partnership between Revertex Ltd and Standard Brands Inc of America. Synthomer GmbH was created with a latex production site in Langelsheim/Germany as a joint venture between Metallgesellschaft AG and Standard Brands Inc.

1974 Lithene Plant constructed at Stallingborough.

1978 PVA and acrylic dispersion plant commissioned at Stallingborough.

1980 Yule Catto and Co plc acquired Revertex Ltd and so became a 50% shareholder of Harco and Doverstrand.

1991 Dispersion production transferred to Stallingborough from Harlow.

1993 Name changed to Revertex Chemicals Ltd

The company became dormant.
