Director of the Great Western Railway, South Wales Railway and the South Devon Railway

1866 of Bonvilstone, near Cardiff

1873 of South Kensington.[1]

1878 Married (2) at Torquay to Honor Georgina Fortescue

1885 of Highclere, Newbury

1891 Died. 'The Directors (Great Western Railway)had to record with much regret the death of their colleague, Mr Richard Bassett, who joined the Board in 1863 upon the amalgamation with the South Wales Railway Company, of which Company he had been a director since March, 1858. Mr Basset was an active and able member of the Board, by whom his experience and sound judgment were much appreciated.'[2]
