Sir RICHARD MOTTRAM died at his residence, Beech House, Pendleton, on April 4, 1914.
He was born in 1848, and came of an old Salford family. After receiving his education at the Manchester Grammar School, he served an apprenticeship with Galloway & Sons, Manchester, of which firm he ultimately became a director. He received his knighthood on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1882.
