1827 When the other shareholders in St Helens Crown Glass Company sold their shares in the company, William acquired some of them, also holding some on behalf his elder brother, Richard. The firm became Greenall and Pilkington.
Married Anne Evans (c.1813-), daughter of Richard Evans ( -1864)
Richard Pilkington had 6 sons; his elder sons, Windle, Richard, joined the glass business. The others went into coal, also a family business: Edward, Alfred , Charles and Lawrence
