1804 Died. 'Lately died at Clifton, Mr. Richard Weldon, engineer; a young man of extraordinary natural as well as acquired abilities. He was the inventor of the lock on the Somerset Coal Canal; the failure of the masonry of which, and not any failure in the invention, much injured his health and spirits.'[1]
