ROBERT BERRY, iron founder, of Swinton, Manchester, was born at Pendlebury in 1872, and entered his father's works, Messrs. Joseph Berry's, as an apprentice in 1887.
In 1893 he became a draughtsman and in 1898 assistant manager.
Later he became a partner, and in 1908 managing director, and his work was chiefly concerned with the design and construction of electric travelling cranes, foundry machinery, hoists, and cupolas, and the extension of works and plant.
He died on 10th February 1929, and had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1904.
