Born the son of Richard Bright, a 'West India proprietor'.

1833 Chairman of the committee to promote the Great Western Railway

Robert Bright was a co-awardee of compensation for slaves in Barbados. He was a shareholder in the Great Western Cotton Co, from 1837, and deputy chairman of the Great Western Railway from 1834. He left £80,000 in his will.[1]
