Robert Brodie (1861- )

1861 Born the son of Walter Brodie, farmer, Kincardineshire.

Educated at Madras Academy, Cupar and Madras College, St. Andrew's.

1922 Professional Career: 18 years (1877-95) with John Waddell and Sons as Pupil, Engineer, then Agent on Tay Bridge Railways, Arbroath and Montrose Railway, Whitby and Loftus Railway, Scarborough and Whitby Railway, Mersey Tunnel, Inverkeithing and Burntisland Railway, Loch Katrine Aqueduct. From 1895-6 with Price and Wills as Agent on Fraserburgh Harbour Improvements; 20 years (1896-1916) with L. P. Nott, in charge of all his work, including Peterhead Harbour, Prince of Wales Dry Dock, Swansea, new entrances to North and South Docks, Swansea, Llanelly Dock and Reservoir, Canada Branch Dock, Liverpool, Tranmere Docks, G.C. and G.W. Railway in Bucks, Wicklow Breakwater, Wick Harbour, Middle Dry Dock, South Shields, Cardiff Reservoir, Cromarty and Dingwall Railway, L. and N.W. Railway widening, North Wales, Widnes New Lock, Newport Dry Dock, improvements to Clover's Dry Docks, Birkenhead, etc.; 3 years (1916-9). executor of L. P. Nott in charge of works. War Services.—As executor of L. P. Nott carried out war work at Invergordon, Cromarty, Fort George, South Shields, Killingholme, Yarmouth , Farnborough, Henbury, and Cumberland.
