1916 Obituary [1]

ROBERT COLLARD, born at Torquay on the 17th April, 1844, died at Ipswich on the 13th August, 1916.

After gaining experience at the North London Railway Works and under Messrs. Westwood and Baillie, he served several years afloat under the Brazilian Government.

He then carried out extensive works, as Chief Engineer, for various sugar estates in Peru and Brazil, and was later employed on railway works in Montevideo and waterworks in India.

In 1894 he settled down in Ipswich, and was associated with various works in this country until recent years.

He was elected a Member on the 2nd March, 1886.
