1897 'NEW COMPANY. ROBERT DEUCHAR LTD, NEWCASTLE has been formed to acquire and carry on the well-known business of Mr Robert Deuchar, brewer, maltster, wine, spirit and beer merchant, and hotel proprietor, of Newcastle. The properties to be acquired by the company include: - The Sandyford Brewery, with off licence attached, 22 freehold, one copyhold and one long leasehold hotels and licensed houses with shops and dwelling houses attached...'[1]

1897 The company was registered August 6 to take over the business of brewer of Mr. Robert Deuchar.

1953 Following the acquisition of privately-held shares in the company by Newcastle Breweries, it was announced that the Duddingston Brewery in Edinburgh would continue to brew the beer supplied to the Deuchar tied houses[2]
