Robert Faulds was born in 1904, and received his technical education at the Glasgow Royal Technical College.

His apprenticeship was commenced with D. Rowan and Co., Ltd., and continued with The Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd. On the completion of his apprenticeship he remained with the latter Company holding positions successively as Journeyman in the Experimental Dept. and Tester.

He was killed on 20th February, 1935, in an aeroplane crash.

He was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1929.
