Robert Hyde Greg (1795-1875) of R. Greg and Co

1875 Died. 'The death is announced of Mr Robert Hyde Greg, of Norcliffe Hall, Cheshire, and Coles Park, Herts., who was M.P. for Manchester from 1839 to 1841, colleague of his brother-in-law, the late Mr Mark Philips. Mr Greg died on Sunday in his 80th year. He took part in the agitation for Corn Law Repeal, and was one of those who prepared the way for the subsequent labours of Mr Cobden and others in the same cause. His father was Mr Samuel Greg, a Manchester merchant and manufacturer. younger brother is Mr W. Rathbone Greg, the wellknown writer on political and social topics.'[1]
