1821 Born at Islington the son of John Somervell and his wife Margaret Wilson

1849 Married at Kendal to Anne Wilson and they had six sons and three daughters

1851 Living at Highgate, Kendal: Robert Miller Somervell (age 29 born Islington), Leather Merchant. With his wife Anne and one daughter.[1]

1891 Residing at Hazelthwaite, Applethwaite: Robert M. Somervell (age 69 born Islington), Merchant (Boot and Shoe Maker). With his wife Anne, two daughters and son Gordon Somervell (age 31 born Southport), Merchant (Boot and Shoe Maker).[2]

1899 Died age 78. Company now employs 600 persons.[3]
