ROBERT SHARPE, born on the 9th November, 1848, died on the 8th May, 1910, at Belfast, where he was Engineer and Manager of the Corporation Gasworks.

Apprenticed to Messrs. Laidlaw and Sons, of Glasgow, gas and water engineers and contractors, he subsequently assisted the late Mr. William Foulis on gasworks at Glasgow and in Spain.

He was appointed Assistant Engineer at Belfast, in 1879, and succeeded Mr. James Stelfox as Engineer in 1907.

Mr. Sharpe was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 5th April, 1887.
