Robert Stephenson and Co: Rocket (2)

From Graces Guide
Drawings of early engines.

1829 Engine no.7 built by Robert Stephenson and Co for the Stockton and Darlington Railway. The engine driver was James Stephenson. [1]

This Rocket was built at the same time as the more famous one of the same name, i.e. Rocket with outside inclined cylinders and other features similar to the Lancashire Witch which had been built the year before. It differed from the other Rocket in several respects, not least a different wheel arrangement (six-coupled wheels) and return flue boiler.
