Mr R. Ross (Member) is the new Chairman of the Australian Branch.

He was educated at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. His apprenticeship was spent in the workshops and drawing office of Johns and Waygood, Melbourne. After serving in the 1914-18 war as an engineer officer and with the Flying Corps, he joined a firm of consulting engineers, Fyvie and Stewart. In 1925 he became an Engineer for Reconstruction with the South Australian Harbours Board. From 1931 Mr Ross has practised as a consultant on general mechanical and electrical works for industry, buildings, hospitals and power plant.

He became a Member of the Institution in 1937 and has been actively engaged in the setting up and growth of the Australian Branch.
