2ND LIEUT. ROGER E. NOWELL, 22nd Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, was killed in France on 22nd September, 1917, during an engagement with an enemy scout machine.

He was 25 years of age, and was educated at Birkenhead School, serving a portion of his apprenticeship at the Bidston Works of Messrs. H. and C. Grayson, Ltd., and at the Tranmere Shipyard of Messrs. Cammell, Laird & Co., Ltd. He left the latter works in July, 1916, and joined the Royal Flying Corps in August, 1916.

Mr. Nowell was elected a Student of the Liverpool Engineering Society on the 7th February, 1912.
