Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society

The Cornwall Polytechnic Society was established at Falmouth by the Quaker Fox Family.

After a few years the institution obtained royal patronage, and Mr. Thomas Jordan was appointed secretary; the printing of the annual reports was entrusted to Mrs. Trathan.

Various mechanical inventions were annually submitted competition for the prizes and premiums offered by the Society.

1840 Mr. Jordan was appointed the Keeper of Mining Records in the Museum of Practical Geology, Mr. Robert Hunt F.R.S., became his successor.
