Rudolf Bredt

Born 17 April 1842 at Barmen.

He studied mechanical engineering and mathematics in Karlsruhe and Zurich and then worked at Wöhlert in Berlin and at the LNWR works in Crewe, where he studied crane construction. In 1867 he returned to Germany and joined the Stuckenholz company in Wetter/Ruhr. In 1873 Gustav Stuckenholz left the company and Bredt remained the sole owner. In 1887 he built an electrically powered travelling crane.[1]

Died 18 May 1900 at Wetter.
